Why Stacey and David Pack Started SPBL Org.

In 2009 David Pack survived prostate cancer - with Stacey’s incredible support but also with a tremendous outpouring of love and assistance from his fellow artist friends in the recording industry who came together and organized a concert fundraiser to cover David’s costs for medical care and recovery time. This event included friends Kenny Loggins, Alan Parsons, REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin, America, David Benoit, Jeff Bridges’ music director + global studio designer Chris Pelonis, actor-comedian Ross Shafer, Tom Petty drummer Steve Ferrone, and many others.

This act of kindness was the only way Stacey and David got through his ordeal, and it was for David the most humbling experience of his life.

David explains, “when I went through cancer I found there were no good options for me in the music industry to help pay for medical and recovery costs we couldn’t afford. Stacey and I made a vow at that time to find a way to help fellow artists and musicians in their journey to beat cancer that is also respectful to their privacy.”

Fast forward to 2019, realizing they were now BOTH cancer survivors (read about Stacey’s cancer journey here) combined with their overwhelming desire to help other recording artists battling cancer, David and Stacey realized their dream with the establishment of the Stacey Pack Best Life Cancer Foundation.

In fact, the term “Best Life” is the title of a meaningful new song David wrote in Jan. 2019 with former co-founder of the band Survivor, Jim Peterik (18 #1 songs including “Eye of the Tiger”, 38 Special’s “Hold On Loosely”) which will be on David's upcoming album that will help raise money for the new foundation.

SPBL Foundation has already started giving financial aid, with complete discretion, to a few classic artists we all know and love - because they needed it but, like David, didn’t know either how to ask or who to ask.

Now there is a place to turn to that is 100% dedicated to “artists helping artists.” And thanks to Stacey’s kind heart SPBL is on a mission to help recording artists and their families live their very best lives.
